Idc how old or young you are if you follow me but if you’re older than 22 or younger than 14 and you ID as ace I’ll have issues with you no questions asked.
In order to please bigoted people no one should identify as anything anymore ever, because it has to be ‘just a phase’. Like do you not hear yourselves because the whole ‘it’s a phase and if it isn’t you’re a Problem and I have to Judge you based on nothing more than your sexual orientation/this small part of your identity that you cannot control any more than anyone else can’ argument is literally out of Conservative Right-Wingers mouths about literally every member of the community.
You are very literally saying “Your sexual orientation is a Choice and if you Choose to have one I don’t approve of outside of an Acceptable Experimental Age then you are deserving of Judgement based on that orientation and absolutely nothing more”, like come on, for real here? Did you not have to hear that yourself with your identities? Do you not understand that you are literally recycling homophobia as a weapon to use within your own community against people you decided you didn’t like?
I’ve been sitting here for like five actual minutes trying to understand what the entire fuck OP is trying to get across. Is it that ace people don’t exist? Is it that ace people shouldn’t exist? Or is it that ace people are like werewolves, in that they can only come out at certain times only to retreat into their mortal form in the light of day?
What it reads like is that OP thinks there’s an age limit on being ace. But why? I literally don’t understand why. What happens at 14 that means you can get your Get Out of Wanting Sex Card? Is there a test? Do you have to study? And why is it revoked on your 23rd birthday? Do you wake up at 23 and magically think “Wow! I want to have sex with people now! Amazing!”?
Is it like a letter to Hogwarts? You get your letter to the Asexuality School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at 14 by owl, and graduate 8 years later? Your professors taught you all you need to know about human sexuality, and now you have the information to implement sexual intercourse into your life?
I’m caught up in the numbers, here. Is it that OP thinks asexuality is like acne? Like the way people tell you when you start getting acne that it goes away before you’re in your twenties but the truth is that acne is forever, just like asexuality? What’s special between 14-22 that makes asexuality A-OK in the eyes of OP? Does OP think asexuality is like an awkward scene phase instead of a valid identity?
And on that note, how is OP the Authority on Sexual Identity? Is there a council? Were they elected? Is that where the Age Range for Acceptable Asexuality was born? Did citizens get to vote on it, or was it an autocratic decision by a corrupt ring of Sexuality Sheriffs?
At this point I’ve been sitting here for another ten minutes trying to parse this out. I wonder if OP knows any ace people. Have they spoken to an ace person? Interviewed them? Or is this like that thing where my stepdad didn’t understand trans people until he met an actual trans person and was like Ah So Here I Find They Do Exist?
Perhaps OP has heard the lost myths and legends of the ace people, literature lost largely to the sands of time, an oral tradition. They heard tales of the ace people on tumblr, but has never seen one, so they made this post, like a kid at summer camp regaling his cronies with Man-Door-Hand-Hook-Car-Door-Ace-Person story around the campfire?
I’ve decided I’m not going to be able to figure this one out, lads.
